Poutine from Potato Champion

Man. What can I say? Our city is finally blessed with access to poutine that does not come from my kitchen.

Potato Champion is a cart at the intersection of SE 12th & Hawthorne that specialises in frites with a variety of dipping sauces. I was, predictably, more interested in their poutine than anything else.

I have to say that the poutine was pretty good as the quality of the fries was high, as you may be able to tell in the picture. The gravy and curds were good too but I was a little put off by a slight sweet aftertaste after each bite. Mac thought that that could be due to the potatoes. So, they're not perfect but for a place that's thousands of miles away from my beloved Montréal, they're pretty good. Frankly, it's a lot better than that crap I had at some random fast food place off of Parc one time.

I also have to mention that it turned out the guy who runs Potato Champion, Mike, is a guy that I know from a couple of years back. I was amused (and proud) that he told me someone was recently talking about me when he had mentioned poutine.

I usually spend my lunch break in some school club or another. My only free days are Thursdays and I usually spend those goofing off with my friends.

My lunch break is about 40 minutes long, but it seems so short most of the time. My school offers both a regular lunch and a culinary department lunch.

The regular lunch is not very good, but I'm told the culinary lunch is pretty good. The price for regular lunch is 2.50 U.S. dollars and this is usually what I eat when I eat at all. Normally I don't have time to head down to the lunch room to buy lunch. (Clubs and all.)

I don't really have a favorite school food, it isn't very good- but on some Fridays I get to eat pizza which is amazing.

This photo was taken at a lunch meeting with my principal. Lately, she has taken to inviting 4 students from the graduating class at a time to a gourmet lunch meeting. In the meeting she asks us what we plan to do after graduation and what we liked about our time at the school, what we would change and if we had any suggestions to improve how it functions. It was very nice and the food was amazing. The picture above is of the dessert. It was so beautiful that I almost didn't want to eat it.
