My mother-in-law, Concetta ... a wonderful lady. She is so lucky to have a son-in-law ... wait, I mean, I am so lucky to a mother-in-law like her!!!
She is a great "old-world" Italian cook. We all call her Grandma Meatballs.
She was the First Prize Winner for two consecutive years at the Wilmington, Delaware Vendemmia Food and Wine Expo's Gravy Contest. She is the "Gravy Queen." Around these parts, tomato sauce is called Gravy. Go figure!
I love this photo as a black-and-white but with the color of her golden sauce held back for emphasis. This is done through layering techniques in Adobe Photoshop. Also, a picture like this - with lots of cluttered background - begs for the use of a very wide aperture normal lens to keep that distracting background out of focus.
Grandma Meatball's warm kitchen with it's distinct aromas is so inviting not only during these cold, snowy days, but all-year-round!
