A packed Tayyabs

If you don't want to go as far out of London as Southhall (near Heathrow), you can get really good halaal Indian/Pakistani food in the Whitechapel area of the city (they also have cool fast food restaurants, Indian clothes, an Islamic bank and a mosque). Brick Lane is always another choice, but Whitechapel is much better, in my opinion. Brick Lane looks cooler though!
The restaurant Sonia and I went to is called Tayyabs... and it's always packed. Line went literally out the door and the wait was nearly and at least an hour this Friday night.
Luckily though, we made reservations, so we got the royal treatment.
Told the manager, "Yo, I got a reservation for 9:30." "Wait right here." Within 5 minutes, a table.
:P
While the food is really good, it's not as great as people made it out to be. I went in with hopes that I'd be eating the most amazing food I've ever eating, but it's no better than the best restaurants in SF, Chicago, NY or LA. Is really, really good though :)

QUICK, a popular fast-food restaurant in Belgium. I take this photo just 2min after the opening time. I'm the first customer, so the restaurant is empty :)

Looks like a crappy job, parking cars in the rain behind a fast-food joint. This is a grab shot out my car window as I was in the always-lengthy drive-thru line behind the In-N-Out in Westwood near UCLA (see also: this photo).
